Find Your People: Women's Group Therapy That Actually Gets It
You know that feeling when you're scrolling through social media at 2 AM, watching everyone else seem to have their shit together while you're lying there wondering why you feel so damn alone? I see you, and here's the thing – you're not actually alone.
I'm a therapist in Lynnwood, WA, and I specialize in women's group therapy for women who've mastered the art of looking like they've got it all figured out on the outside while feeling like they're falling apart on the inside. If you’ve been over-functioning your whole life, staying busy because sitting still feels impossible, and shoving down those nagging thoughts that whisper "this isn't what I want" – women's group therapy might be exactly what you've been looking for.
What Is Women's Group Therapy?
Women's group therapy brings together a small group of women (usually 8-10) who are dealing with similar challenges in a supportive environment where you can finally drop the mask and be honest about what's really going on. My women's therapy groups create a safe space where group members can share similar experiences without judgment or pressure to change faster than feels authentic.
In my therapy groups, the magic happens when you realize you're not the only one who feels like you're drowning while everyone else thinks you're swimming just fine. There's something incredibly powerful about sitting across from other women and hearing them say, "Holy crap, I thought I was the only one who felt that way."
Each women's support group creates a supportive community where participants can explore their patterns, develop new coping skills, and receive emotional support from others who truly understand their struggles.
Women's Group Therapy Services I Offer
General Women's Therapy Group
My flagship therapy group addresses the whole person – relationships, anxiety, life transitions, family dynamics, work stress, and everything in between. This women's support group is for women who want to understand themselves better and create more authentic, fulfilling lives. Group members explore a broader range of mental health concerns while developing coping strategies and receiving support from other participants.
Binge Eating Group Therapy
Food struggles are often about so much more than food. In this specialized women's therapy group, we explore the emotional, psychological, and relational aspects of binge eating while developing a healthier relationship with both food and your body. The group sessions provide a non-judgmental space where members can share similar experiences and learn new coping skills.
Who Benefits from Women's Group Therapy?
My ideal client is a woman who's sensitive and has had a hard time in our world being her true self, so she's found ways to cope. This might be through toxic relationships, staying in "busy is better" mode, or becoming a workaholic. She's always dysregulated and doesn't know how to sit still.
In her quiet thoughts, she can hear that things aren't the way she wants them to be, but she shoves those thoughts down because they're confusing or overwhelming. She's saying "I don't want THIS...but I don't know what THIS is that I do want."
Women's support groups work best for women who are:
Ready to be honest about their struggles, even without having solutions
Willing to attend group sessions consistently
Open to hearing other perspectives and similar experiences
Interested in developing authentic relationships and new coping strategies
Tired of handling everything alone and ready to receive support
The Benefits of Women's Group Therapy
You'll Finally Feel Understood
There's something incredibly validating about sharing your story and having other women nod along because they've lived something similar. In my therapy groups, women often tell me it's the first time they've felt truly understood. This emotional support from other group members creates a foundation for genuine personal growth.
You'll Learn You're Not Actually Crazy
That voice in your head telling you something's not right? It's valid. Women's group therapy helps you trust your own experiences and feelings instead of constantly second-guessing yourself. When other participants share similar experiences, it becomes clear that your reactions are normal responses to difficult situations.
You'll Practice Being Real in Real Time
Group therapy isn't just about talking – it's about practicing new ways of being. You'll learn boundary setting, how to express your needs, and how to show up authentically in a safe space before taking those skills into your daily life. The supportive environment provides the perfect place to develop these new coping skills.
You'll Discover What You Actually Want
Women's therapy groups create space to explore that "I don't know what I want" confusion without pressure. Through hearing other women's journeys and reflecting on your own experiences, you'll start to identify what truly matters to you – not what you think should matter, but what actually feels authentic.
How My Women's Group Therapy Works
I keep my women's support groups small and consistent because healing happens in relationships. When you join one of my therapy groups, you're committing to showing up regularly for yourself and the other women in the group.
The group is scheduled in perpetuity so that people can come and go as best suites them. I have learned that the group not having an official start and end date helps create more a sense of community and true sisterhood. We will meet virtually every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from 7-8:30pm.
Sessions are 90 minutes because real conversation takes time. We need space to check in, dive into whatever's coming up, and process together without feeling rushed. This gives all group members adequate time to participate and receive support when they need it.
I'm fully present and engaged during every minute of our time together. I'm actively involved in each therapy group, offering insights, asking questions that help you think differently, and creating connections between group members' experiences. Sometimes I'll suggest exercises between group sessions if they seem helpful for your specific goals.
Combining Individual Therapy with Group Therapy
Group therapy isn't a replacement for individual therapy – they complement each other powerfully. In individual therapy sessions, we dig deep into your specific history, patterns, and goals. In women's group therapy, you practice what you're learning and gain new perspectives from others on similar journeys.
I use several therapeutic approaches in both individual and group counseling settings, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Brainspotting. For women dealing with food and body image concerns, I also incorporate Intuitive Eating principles.
This combination creates multiple layers of support. You get focused individual attention plus the validation and connection from group experience. Many participants find that skills they practice in group sessions become easier to implement in daily life when they also have individual therapy support.

What to Expect in Your First Group Session
The idea of walking into a room full of strangers and sharing personal stuff is terrifying – I get it, and so does every other woman who's joined a therapy group. Feeling nervous is completely normal.
We start with introductions where each person shares what brought her to group therapy and what she's hoping to gain. You don't have to share your deepest secrets on day one – just whatever feels comfortable in this safe space.
I'll go over group guidelines: confidentiality is sacred, we don't give advice unless asked, and we respect each other's experiences without trying to fix anyone. These guidelines help create a supportive environment where all participants feel secure.
Then we dive in, and you'll probably be surprised by how quickly the initial awkwardness fades when you realize the other group members are there for similar reasons, seeking the same emotional support and community you're looking for.
Why Choose My Women's Group Therapy in Lynnwood, WA?
I understand what you're going through because I've been there, and I'll be real and honest with you. I'm engaged with clients every minute of group sessions and don't just sit back asking "how does that make you feel?" I give my all to every session and take my role as a healer as seriously as I take my role as a mom.
What sets my women's support groups apart:
Authentic Connection: I create genuine relationships with group members, not surface-level interactions
Consistent Support: Regular group sessions with the same participants build trust and deeper healing
Real Talk: No therapy-speak or clinical jargon – just honest conversation about real life
Practical Skills: You'll learn coping strategies you can actually use, not just talk about your problems
Community Focus: My therapy groups become supportive communities that extend beyond our sessions
The benefits of joining women's group therapy extend far beyond weekly sessions. You'll develop skills for all your relationships, gain insights into your patterns, and build a network of support that understands your struggles. Many participants tell me that attending group therapy has been transformative for their mental health and overall well-being.
